Szkola Podstawowa im. H. Sienkiewicza w Promniku is situated in Promnik, a village in the Świętokrzyskie District, Poland. It is about 200 kilometers from Warsaw, the capital city of Poland, and 30 kilometers from Kielce, the region's biggest city.

The school has now over 150 pupils at the age of 6-16. Our school belongs to the public educational institution which joined our primary school and a middle school.

They coexisted in the same place with the same staff. At the moment, the Polish educational system is undergoing an important change. Primary and middle schools are being joined and put together in eight- classes primary schools.

On average the classes in our school consist of 14 students. Groups of this size are large enough to offer kids the possibility to build friendly relationships. Still, these classes are not too large to teach them effectively. Students can benefit from a great interest from their teachers who are finely aware of their needs and capable to offer help to those in need.

The 16 teachers of our school are highly motivated, committed to their work and taking care of their constant self-improvement. Our teachers take part in different teachers’ workshops and use various teaching methods. Pupils study all the basic subjects according to the national curriculum: Polish, Math, Science, Geography, Biology, History, English, German, Art, Music, Technology, PE, IT and RE.

INTEGRATION AS SCHOOL’S POLICY

Our students are very active in different areas of school life. Some take up extra sport classes, others learn languages or play chess as well as musical instruments. Many of them are really talented. However, we also have many children from socially deprived backgrounds. Moreover, certain pupils come from low-income families while some students suffer from specific learning difficulties (dyslexia, dysgraphia, developmental delay, autism) .
